I'm looking into buying a mig welder. Somewhere between 1-300 range. Anyone have one they are looking to get rid of?

Reply:How about a reconditioned Hobart with a warranty and no sales tax? $8 shipping and $300 for the Hobart Handler 125 from here:http://www.toolking.com/productinfo....roductid=13012For a little more, you might even consider one of the slightly better ones.
Reply:link doesn't work edit, it was just down.I like it but u have to buy the acc. kit to mig with it.What about http://www.toolking.com/productinfo....roductid=17860Does the gas make that much of a diff. that i would actually need it? The one above seems good but they are out of stock.Last edited by Joe5688; 06-22-2006 at 02:27 AM.
Reply:Hang in there, you will find one close to you. Look to offroad websites, they have guys who have stuff for sale. As for the gas, you will be happier with a gas welder, IMO. No glaze to chip off your welds, clean welds. Shipping to Il. would be BAD. Thanks for the reply!!Also, look to toolsites that sell used tools, or reconditioned tools. Good luck. Paul.
Reply:I would go with a Lowes Lincoln 175 weldpak, it is around 599 (usually they put some good offers like past month they would give away a bosch electric grinder for free). I think that a 135 amp unit would kill you with duty cycle and you would like to upgrade, and your money was already spent. Good luck.(you can find some good ebay deals from time to time)

Reply:Originally Posted by MAC702They come in and out of stock all the time because they are so popular. Give them a call and ask about it, sometimes you can be first in line and they get more of them often.Anyway, that's really the one I wanted to recommend, but it's a little over your budget (but at least it's not twice your budget.) But for being factory reconditioned and having a 1-year warranty and free shipping and no sales tax, it's a darn good deal, probably the best out there on a 135A machine.I have owned that exact model from that exact company and I was extremely impressed with the machine and with the value. It was MIG ready when it got here! I've since sold it to a friend who needed one and I was already buying the Passport anyway.Yes, I highly recommend a model with GMAW capability. In the long run GMAW is cheaper than FCAW because of the difference in price between FC wire and solid wire. Plus, for most fabrication, GMAW is so clean that it DRASTICALLY reduces the postweld cleanup. You can almost weld and paint and sell.
Reply:It will be tough to find a GMAW machine for under $300...at least anything of quality. As previously mentioned, you may be able to find something used on various sites or maybe ebay.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I just bought a Factory Reconditioned HH125 from............. Harbor Freight(Ducks from the stones). It was on sale for 170 and I had a 20% off coupon. So total was 135.00
Reply:I have posted a millermatic 185 machine. You can read about it by looking at the post. The price is firm.

Reply:Originally Posted by elvergonDepends on what you´re welding, but 135 A for Mig might be too low. Good for sheetmetal. Sorry for saying it isn´t a good amount. Should have asked before what you´re welding. What thickness will you be welding?
Reply:Pretty nice decition. You´ll like the extra amps and duty cycle. I hope everything turns out good when you get it =)Don´t worry to post the pics of the projects
