Curiosity has me beat with this one and my supervisor wont comment on the question but, when welding 2 peices of steel of different thickness together, how do i want to setup the welder, im not looking for numbers but instead do i lean towards the settings of the thinnest material or the thickest? Some example material would be 3/16" square tube to 1/2" plate, also would there be any specific technique to acheive proper pen on both? I would just diagonally weave across both. This is my grinder. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My grinder is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My grinder, without me, is useless. Without my grinder, I am useless.
Reply:I am not a professional by any means, what I usually do is set it for the thicker metal. With that said I will concentrate my heat towards the thicker metal and pull the puddle over to the thinner.Hope that makes since.

Reply:He he, u used basic iframe from html, you want bbcode, anyways so i asked the question for curiosity, my boss at work had me weld a the stand for an oh&s wash system and i set the welder for the 3/16" at 24.6v and 350 to 400 ipm it seemed like the right numbers, i asked him if i should change the settings for the base (1/2" plate) and all he did was turn down the ipm to about 300 so i figured i would get input from others This is my grinder.
