Is there a way to bend both hardway and easyway big rectangular/square tubing without spending thousands on a hydraulic machine in the video that takes up whole room and still get clean bends?Last edited by HelloStranger; 11-07-2014 at 09:57 PM.
Reply:Which way, what angle and what radius are you trying to bend? Also, what will it be used for after it is bent?GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:I'm not picky with radius, as long as it bends up to 90 degrees neatly. Starting with industrial furniture and basic gym equipment.Last edited by HelloStranger; 11-07-2014 at 10:03 PM.
Reply:Hmmm. I don't know of another way to bend it with the radius that would be necessary for that type of stuff.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Uuuhhh, no.

Reply:If this is for a one off piece you can try a series of cuts in the square tubing .bend to shape then weld up the cuts and grind to finish , other wise find a steel company with the needed machine and cough up the ca$h. gxbxc
Reply:Fill your tubing with sand and bend it how you want. You fill it full then then bend. You may have to add a little heat.
Reply:there are plans for tubing benders on the net, (yes there more for exhaust type tubing), but one could make a tubing bender and make the die, using a similar type set up (beef it up to handle the 2 x 4 tubing) run with a hydraulic cylinder.years ago a local shop made a bender for just square tubing they used a heavy table and mounted the dies on the table and the cylinder, to operate it (it made lay out easer, laying flat)it was similar to this machine but some what lighter, depending on wall thickness I would think one would need or possibly beef this up a little,http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/shop-...ign-input.html,possibly with the correct die, one could possibly use a "bend a pack" type bender or the same way the Harbor freight tube/pipe bender and a very large shop press, but I think with out a follower one would have problems, a lot would depend on the steel and the tube,Last edited by Farmerboy; 11-09-2014 at 10:10 AM. |
