Been a nightmare getting my settings rightSo I figure I'd get started with the settings war.  Three pics, 3 settings, 2 different wires. This is a simple toggle latch.  I like to use them because they're easy to make, and work very well. This is Blue Demon wire, tap #3 (What I've run this machine at for years)This is Blue Demon wire, tap #2This is Harris Ten Gauge, tap #3The Harris runs pretty nice at this heat setting, but it's a tad too fast for me.  I prefer a slower run sometimes (old age, and poor vision).  Dropping the heat one tap allows for slower runs, but the bead becomes ropy.  Reducing wire speed craps up the wetting action.  I'm in between taps I guess.  The pricey machines have either more taps, or unlimited adjustment.  I'm ok with the machine I own, it still works, and I'm not going to go out and dump a bunch of money for cosmetic purposes.I can't really dump on the Blue Demon wire though.  It runs hot (at least this lot #), and would be good for heavier stock.  But it doesn't work well with thinner gauge stuff unless you turn the machine all the way down.  Turning the machine down too much results in unreliable arc starts, and arc outages while welding.  BUT on the good side, the Blue Demon will not clog up your tip with spatter.  The spatter forms a layer on the tip which releases while welding, and burns up in the puddle.  The Harris keeps on building crud on the tip until you either clean it off, or a huge chunk falls off in the puddle. On to the finished thingy..............."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Well, here it is  It's made strictly for moving small pieces of equipment around the yard.  I've had to leave this stuff out in the weather for years because it's too awkward to move to the far side of the yard to the other container where it's dry and secure.  The dolly wheels are too small to run in the grass and dirt.  This thing solves the problemThe ramp is handy to load the stuffAnd it's made to bridge the gap between the cart and the container for a simple walk offThere's two handles for a reason.  The cart was gonna be heavy I figured, and the ground is relatively rough.  Sometimes it's easier to push, sometimes it's easier to pull the cart. The handle telescopes out of the way, or extends for use.  Simple pin arrangement.More to follow"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Now that's just cool.
Reply:The pin is stored on the handle.  Some folks have cup holders, I got pin holders  In this pic you can see one of the many welds that had to be ground out and replaced when I switched wire, and still looking for the ideal setting on the stupid machine. This had to be done, I've got too much expensive stuff laying around in the rain.  Now I can put it up when I'm finished with it instead of letting the dog pee on itI figure on having to do some transmission work in the future on the big trucks, and need a way to move the things after they're out of the truck in order to load them on the 1 ton.  This'll come in handy.  And K'kins can use it when she hauls feed down to the cows, instead of having to carry it on her shoulder"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Sam, You must be bored. You could have gotten away with just a ramp into the container...There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:Neat design. Well thought out and purpose built. I like it. Are you painting it yellow?  Or did you finally use up the yellow?

Reply:Sambo, as ancient and decrepit as you're getting it might have been a better idea to provide for some 'real' motivating... You have to remember how Kelly had to care for you like an invalid the last time your walked down all those aisles at the feed store.
