Oil & Gas Welding repairs

Hello,First time poster here, and only have an overview knowledge of the welding industry.My question is regarding weld repairs within the oil & gas industry: I have a standard fillet weld with the relevant procedure and corresponding qualification, however the weld needed to be repaired, and I originally thought that we should have a repair weld procedure to accompany it. However the vendor is suggesting that we shall only get a 'method statement'. . . I have had a look at the original weld procedure and its makes no reference to repair. Am I right to request a repair weld procedure?
Reply:It depends on what you're working on. Is it a vessel or piping? Or is it structural? If it is vessel/piping, then it depends on whether the job is still under construction. If a vessel has been signed off by your AI, then yes you would need to consult for a repair procedure (but not a weld procedure per say).
