this is kinda a dupe post as i have posted this in other areas for other reasons, but just wanted to share this piece of my project. i needed to make a 4x8x.25 steel tuber bigger. due to the inherent stress that sticks around after the bending/ews process i had to be careful making this piece as the inside dimensions were critical for my needs.making the sleeve bigger:welded some scabs on, then heat to almost red hot using big propane torch (focus on the corners), let cool, sawzall it in half, then bevel grind all pieces, then use these butt joint holders, weld, let air cool, grind off the scabs. |
