which would be the more practical machine. a CNC verticle mill, or a plasmacam type burning table.  i only got room for 1 machine and the price is about equal. i know the table will allow me to cut large plates. but the cnc will let me make small tight tolerance parts. dang, i hate making these decisions."Retreat hell, were just fighting in the other direction"Miller Trailblazer 302, Extreme 12 VS, Dimension 400, Spectrum 375, HF 251D-1, Milermatic 251 w/ spoolgun  Hypertherm 1000Lincoln sp 1702000 F-450 to haul it
Reply:It really depends on what your making most.  A mill is not the best thing for long slow cuts, that's for sure.  I can't imagine using a mill for some of the stuff I've seen done on a plasma table, and vice-versa.Love mills. For the most part though, they are best used for machining close tolerance parts.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
Reply:Hey BackupRoller. I have the plasma cam, and I use it all the time. Seriously, all the time. It is limited though by the plasma cutter that you put on it. I have a cutmaster 38 on mine, and can do up to 3/16" pretty good. It does have a pretty large footprint though. The table is about 5ftx5ft overall, and it is really messy. I dont have a real good ventilation setup so dust gets on everything. For me its been an awesome tool, and im sure you would love it if you got one. A CNC mill would be freaking awesome too though.
