Does anyone have or has anyone used the 14" metal saw made by Milwaukee. I got to try one out at a Milwaukee tool show at our local supply house. I thought it was great but only got to use it once. I know it got a lot of use that day and everybody seemed to really like it. I am considering buying one instead of an abraisive chop saw. Any info on blade life?
Reply:I the description below is it, I did buy one (refurbished) on Ebay. I still have my old chop saw as an emergency backup. No problems with the new one. Cuts very cleanly and fast. When it came, the adustment handle was damaged. I contacted the seller and he contacted Milwuakee. Four days later I had a whole new adjustment assembly at no cost. Reply:Thats it. I priced it locally at almost $600.00. I got it off Ebay, brand new, from a certified Milwaukee dealer for $359.00. How is the blade holding up and can they be resharpened?
Reply:I got one off ebay 2 years ago. I read somewhere that the blades can be sharpened. Mines dull now.
Reply:I have one as well. The blade will last ok if you take it easy on the pressure. Don't force it.. let the blade do the work. What I don't like about it is the flimsy clamping system. It's difficult to keep it secure. I've yet to get a clean, repeatable miter cut on it.
Reply:I bought an extra blade off of Ebay, too. I have not had to go to it, yet. For what it's worth my manual said to start the cut gently and increase force on the handle when cutting until sparks subside--to maximize lifespan of the blade.
Reply:I have had one for about 2 years, love it, it works great. I have 2 blades, one on the saw, the other ready to go, when it gets dull I send it out to get it resharpened. The sharpening was about $30, and they had to replace a carbide tooth, I haven't use the abrasive one since I got this saw.Jack Attached Images

Reply:I got a Porter Cable saw - pretty much the same thing on a killer Ebay deal for $199 about 8 months ago. I cut everything with it and it keeps going strong. I may order another blade for it just in case.JimCut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:Well, I got my saw in today from UPS. Have not had a chance to use it. Boy it sho' is purty and red. Picked up some steel today to build my headache rack for my truck. Will post pics if it tuns out OK.
Reply:does any one think the makita saw would cut a little better because the blade looks a little different.heres a pic of the blade. for some reason it just looks like a better blade to me. I know it is only a 12" blade but it may be something to look into[ame]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007SXHKU[/ame]
Reply:Just looking at the back edge of the tooth looks like a place for chips to get trapped, not much rake on the back side. I dont know, maybe not. Probably is a good saw, I dont think Makita would put out a product that wasnt very good. |
