I read somewhere that some guy was using used up veggie oil from a fryer in his shop salamander and all he did was filter it.  Ive got  a reddy heater and running that stuff would save a bundle
Reply:Good idea, as long as it's clean, it seems like it should work.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:really?? i thought this guy who wrote this was nuts.  Do you really think it will work

Reply:The only problem I can come up with is that you use a salamander to heat up an area.  The WVO needs to be heated to be thin enough to go through the orifice.  The heat above the tank from the salamander will not provide enough heat soon enough to heat up the WVO before it tries to pass through the orifice even if you poured already heated oil in to the tank.  Now if the ambient temperature is high enough to not need to preheat the oil then the salamander would not be needed. If it was converted to biodiesel then the temperature at which it needed to be preheated would be lower than the straight veggie oil.TimMiller Dynasty 200DX; MM180; Spectrum 625; Bobcat 3-Phase; and counting...

Reply:I'll tell you what, WVO burns pretty good in a smudge potSometimes people use the term salamander when they actually mean smudge potJoewww.CummingsHauling.com

Reply:Hey! I don't know about WVO But I made some Bio diesel and the salamander doesn't like it strait up I have to mix 50/50 with kerosene and it seems to work OK Just my personal experience Thanks!
Reply:If you are using a kerosene salamander it might not work very well, but an oil salamander should work wonderfully on WVO.
Reply:If you're interested in a waste oil heater, check this out:  http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel_...arth/me11.htmlI haven't tried it myself, but this guy seems to have worked out a lot of potential problems these things have suffered from.America Needs AMERICA'S Oil!!!"Global warming is the greatest scam in history ...There is no run away climate change. Reply:I think it would be too thick for the nibco (I think thats how it is spelled) style heaters I would hate to try and clean it if it did not work.Yancy,2 Lincoln sticksMiller 210 W/ Spool gun Miller Bobcat 225G Pluscentury 220V Mig
