I am looking at getting a little stick welder for making trailers, maybe autobody ( already have a mig ) etc. I'm used to burning 3/32 and 1/8 7018 rods. Wondering if this one is any good. I know it's usually u get what you pay for, but meh, hundred bucks, worth a try.bx1-200fhttp://www.portauxbasquesonline.ca/P...php?product=96
Reply:For the same money you can get a used Lincoln tumbstone.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:which is ... better ?How is this machine ?
Reply:I have not used that machine, but I have used a tumbstone. They just weld. There is a project of a digger bucket a guy built here with one. I'll find the linkedit: Here take a look.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=20776DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thanks Dave, appreciate it. Think this would be alright for doing trailers and small projects around the yard ? But i do want something capable of burning a 1/8 rod Well
Reply:If its 200 amps, it will run 1/8" just fine. DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:i think it's 200 v ? When it comes to amps and volts, i'm lost. I feel like im waisting bandwith by these usless posts lol...Thanks again , sorry ! Mike
Reply:Volts is input power. Amps is the output power of the machine. More amps = more welding power and the ability to run heavier rods and weld heavier steel.
Reply:What David said. The tomestone will run 1/8" 7018 and last forever doing it.
Reply:so this should run about the same then. Sounds good
Reply:Not necessarily. The tombstone is tried and true. I have two of them that are seldom used anymore, but they always work when I turn them on. They will burn 5/32 7018 all day long. I have used them working on semi trailers so they would handle the small ones too. With the tombstone you know what you are getting. You can't say the same for others. Not much machine if it's rated 200 amps at 20% duty cycle like a lot of the imports are.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist. |
