Looking for a small turning roll

I am looking for a small fixture or device that can accept pieces of round stock to be welded together. This will be used for TIG welding extremely small beads on medical tools. The fixture also has to have a stepper motor and a foot pedal would be ideal. Anyone know of someone out there that sells something like this, or should I just DIY?Thanks,
Reply:That would be an easy project with a motor/gearbox at least 60:1 a shaft and a small lathe chuck to hold the parts. Any ideas what sizes of parts? Reply:I would think that you can use a welding positioner with a lathe type chuck attached. This would give you the foot speed control you want. I believe you can get them for both vertical and horizonal turning. I think David R just got one maybe he'll chime in on this.You might also be able to adapt a small lathe to give you 2 centers to align everything and add a variable speed controler to it.
Reply:Here is the 60:1 motor diver for my scrolling machine which is the same drive for my slip rolls just turned on its side.
