I've been welding for over a year now. And ive tackled a few projects and worked as a welder for a large tomato farm. But just doing job after job and taking my time Im now getting it. and when I saw "getting it" I mean understanding the process's and techniques used in mig and stick, and those are my main processes. The welds ive done prior to this have been good and held and been cosmetically pleasing to customers and myself and havent had any problems. but I was welding a plate on a trailer today and just had one of those moments when I was running some 1/8 6011 on 1/4 inch plate nothing complicated and just watching the puddle and how it reacts to my movements and how every little thing can affect the weld. this is kind of a ramble post but just something i thought i would share.

Reply:I like to refer to those moments as "Ah Ha!" moments. The point where everything you have been seeing and doing suddenly "clicks" and begins to make sense. It's kind of neat to see someone who has that had the "light" go on in their head and everything is suddenly much clearer that it was just moments before..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:There are still times when I ask myself WTF is going on here? Like two days ago welding aluminum pastry racks together. Welding along, no problems, then all of a sudden crap weld, doesn't take filler, and all hell breaks loose... Same welding job I had the aluminum jump out at the tung while welding twice. Wasn't a good day at all.
Reply:exactly some days are better than others but we never stop learning. But as much reading and practicing I do all it takes is that one moment where everything clicks and melts together lol. i deff enjoy doing what I do as a welder and I hope to take my small business further into the future. Right now im a grain elevator operator and weld at night or in my free time to make some extra cash and to get my name out there. I love what I do |
