I'm new to welding first of all, but do you have to do whip and pause with 6011 or is it also able to drag a straight line, or are there certain applications for each?Lincoln AC-225 90 amp flux core

Reply:I've played with running 6011 just like 7018. I don't think it looks to bad. Attached ImagesDont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:You can run it like 7018 if you don't pause for too long. 6011 has a cellulose based flux which means it freezes much faster than the mineral based flux on a 7018. If you allow the flux to freeze before you run back over it you will trap slag in your weld. The same thing can happen with 7018 but it is much more likely to happen with 6010, 6011 and 7010. Don't make your weaves too wide and you will be fine. Personally I like to whip anything that ends with 10 or 11. But as CEP and AKweldshop have said, it is all about personal preference and when you get good at welding you can break every rule in the book. Good luck and welcome to the wild and wonderful world of welding |
