well i called my local airgas and turns out they take the tanks you own and swap them out 4 their tanks so i'm getting my tanks online from a welding website that sells brand new tanks with 10 year tests on them i priced a 80 cubic foot oxygen tank and a 75 cubic foot acetylene tank the total cost of both tanks with free shipping is 365 a litttle bit then i wanna spend but it will be worth it
Reply:Make sure the ugly filled ones you in exchange say "customer owned" around the neck ring or it says it on your receipt.
Reply:But tanks you get shipped to you are empty.  What does it cost to swap them for full tanks, and how much are they if you just pick them up FULL locally?
Reply:that sure is alot of $$$ for those tiny empty bottlesyou could get a entire torch set with hoses and regulator and bottles for that on craigslist just make sure they are a smooth neck band on the tanksLast edited by WeldorWes; 03-19-2013 at 05:46 AM.Miller Xmt 350Lincoln Ln-25Ahp 200xSmith Gas Mixer AR/HTig is my Kung FuThrowing down dimes and weaving aboutInstagram http://instagram.com/[email protected]

Reply:I would expect airgas would sell you that size tank/cylinder/bottle probably full of gas.  Have you got a plumbing or fire extinguisher shop to fill them if not a welding place?  Like stated above most places will swap them out.  Those sizes should be owner sizes it is the 125 size I find kind of iffy and variable.  There is no raised letters on it so it is an owner one, no see this little bar code sticker that means it is a lease.......Fran
Reply:Dude just swap out tanks from AirGas and be done with it.  You'll end up buying new "pretty"  cylinders, only to have to wait because AirGas won't refill for you at that particular location.   Besides, after 10 years, you'll have to pay to get your cylinder re hydro tested.  You're making it harder on yourself.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member

Reply:Airgas SELLS cylinders too, so buying new elsewhere is probably pointless. I wouldn't buy a new cylinder.I get cylinders off Craigslist etc and exchange them. You can exchange up or down in size at most LWS too. There are plenty of threads about buying used cylinders.I look for necks with no name (including US government, because those are often sold surplus) or with names of the companies Airgas bought out such as Linde.
