Ok here's the issue, on AC, the arc isn't smooth, and every 2 seconds or so I get a slight pause then burst of amperage, then it repeats the cycle in random sequence. Can this be a high frequency issue? I gapped the hi freq terminals to .008. I never replaced them since I bought the machine. This happens with any electrode at any amperage.thanks
Reply:IF the welder works correctly in DC. Then you might have a HF problem. Worn pitted points can cause the HF to not work quite right. You need to try to stick weld in AC and DC plus DC tig weld and see if the arc is stable. If all welding with out HF needed is good, Then you might have a HF problem you will need to find.If the arc is not stable in DC or stick. we might have a control circuit problem or SCR problem. For one HF problem. you may have to look into the welder around the torch terminal with the HF on and see ifthere is any arcing around the terminal or HF coupling transformer.Last edited by ccawgc; 04-07-2013 at 12:38 AM.
Reply:Make sure your autodark helmet is working correctly. Sometimes its just saying 'low battery'How does the weld look? If you are seeing signs of contamination, pitting etc. Consider the possibility of bad gas or bad regulator. I know when I loose gas I can get a 'flare up' (followed by really ugly looking metal.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:Hmmmmmm don't know what the problem is but .008 seems kinda tight for the point gap?Try .030 and report back.........Last edited by B_C; 04-09-2013 at 02:22 PM. Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:Point gap is good at ~0.008" for that machine, are they clean and flat?Where is your high frequency intensity adjustment set to? Try 40-50, should be under the flip up cover. What are all your machine settings?Double check all ground connections. |
