welder remotes

Hello. I have a 1982 Lincoln SA 200. I need a remote for it as im getting prepaired to be a pipeline welder. Can I use a Miller rsc -3 remote on my lincoln welder?  I may have gotten the miller numbet wrong but its close to that.
Reply:The  rheostat must be the same ohms as stock lincoln... i believe that its 68 ohms.Long after the price is forgotten, the quality will remain.Both of my Poppy's 1954 Short Hoods -Third generation to weld with it and teaching a fourthSA 2## - Bought and sold more than I can remember or care to list, 8 in the shop right now

Reply:Thank you. I will look at the schematics on the miller one. The price is my problem.  That's why im looking at the miller remote. The one recommended is the one i would like but can't afford. The cabel control one with the red face, and the power receptical on the side.

Reply:Making your own remote is relatively simple. Make the box with an aftermarket rheostat & receptacle, wire your machine correctly with the switch & use the 12/3 extension cord. Reply:A guy posted this several years ago here on the forum but it was real small, scribbled on a piece of notebook paper, virtually un-readable. I blew it up & used it to draw what you see. Several people have used it without problems & several people have picked it apart & said it was wrong. I've never attempted it myself. I am not an electrician of any shape or flavor. Duane's simple posts on how to check this & that completely confuse me where everyone else gets it. What I'm saying is that if it's wrong why does it work for some people?
