Weld-O-Rama

I've met so many great people here since I started welding, I thought it would be nice to have a get-together. I do the same thing once a month with woodworking friends I have. We all get together at one of the guys' houses and show off some creations, eat, drink and talk about shop. I have 3 people in the Los Angeles area interested so far so I'll provide the venue (garage-shops not done yet), pizza, drink and such and whomever makes it up can bring their knowledge, jokes and work and show it all off. I'll try and get some door prizes from the local welding supply houses so you all can enter your small pieces if its art your welding or photos of the work you've done on site and maybe walk away with a few spools of wire, a box of rods, some gloves or whatever I can put together. I'm open to date suggestions and anything else you all have to say because I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box; I just know we have a great time with woodworkers. Also, have my down-the-street neighbor coming over who's a welding inspector. That oughtta be fun.

Reply:OK. I didn't know how well this'd go over but alot of great responses so let's do this. So, we're not in LA. We're just a couple miles west of Palmdale in the Antelope Valley an hour or so north of the San Ferenando Valley. San Gabriel can take the 210 to the 14 and up here or the back way up the 15 to the 136 and out.  In fact, our horses' vet is in Apple Valley where I'll be next week with one of our reining horses and you're about an hour or so east of us. Everyone's within about an hour so, let's do this. Let's plan a date. I'm thinking one of the Saturday afternoons in May before it gets too hot here. PM me or post here which Saturday works for you and we'll go with the date that works for the majority. We'll plan for the house we're in now with a great 220v garage or if there's too many welders that are coming up or over, we'll move to our ranch where our horses are and the barn there, also with 220. Once I get 6 or more committed, I'll hit the Lincoln and Miller suppliers up for some door prizes, we'll video some of the fun and post everything to Welding Web. And ideas and recommendations are all welcomed. I've never done this before but it just sounds like fun to get people with a common interest, welding, together.

I am going to hit DisneyLand with my baby girl while I am out there! Taking a week off of work to make it out! I am a diehard Lincoln fan, so don't let those miller guys get all uppity on you jlames!At least you are able to get guys to show up! Nobody was up for Las Vegas! lolI have some cool pipes that are perfect for making a welding table out of. They even have floor flanges on the bottoms. I will bring them out and we can do a drawing to see who gets them. Then have them build a table (at a later date and at their own leisiure) and post up the pictures for us! Or they could make 4 grinder stands!!!I have extras. Plus!!! if anyone is interested, I have a chunk of railroad rail that is just itching to become a small anvil project!!!Man, a drawing would be cool just so I can see what people do with the stuff.
