Gym Equipment # 8 Compact Pulling SledA friend of mine started his own gym and asked me to make him  some equipment. His gym floor space is very small so I stole this idea from an established producer.The plate is 3/8” thick and was part of my old welding table. I made all cuts (the longest 49”) with a Sawzall!!! I have requests to build this exact same thing, a pulling sled, and even a "farmers walk" bar set that accepts Olympic weights.I too am hoping this will become something for me as well.  Do you think 3/8" plate is necessary for the skid or did you use it because it was what you had?

Reply:I had a "Harry Homeowner" type guy give me some grief as I was about to cut off a piece of 5/8" keyed shaft.  Like it wouldn't do it or would take forever.  A 10 Amp Porter-Cable reciprocating saw with a new blade - took about 5 seconds.  Damn. Reply:Mwalden3/8 plate is overkill 1/4" plate is probably what the doctor ordered, but 3/8 plate is what I had. It was part of my old welding table top.Sqznby and othersI knew the Sawzall part was going to get me a rash of **** but that is all I have to cut plate with. I originally cut a piece with with the plasma at school (but it was too wide for my bender to bend).I live pretty far from the school and the plasma was not really  meant for 3/8 plate in the first place.  Plus it gave the forearms a good work out.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
