Reply:That would be .045 er70s6 solid wire in a lincoln power wave 450 (guess I need to add that one to my sig)As long as the truck sits level, water will run out the front. We are in central KS so it will sit level 99% of the time!I did the design, torch work and holes but didn't actually weld this one myself.Have a friend helpin me get caught up. Reply:Well a lot of folks on here will cut into guys for building trailer hitches but I really can't see that on this one , looks real nice and very stout. Reply:depending on how much you want to actually pull behind it i would say the pin supporting plates are far over sized and the mounting plates are a bit under sized. For the thickness of the PIN mounts i would have went with atleast  3/4-1" plate And less reinforcement welding on the cap pass and more of a bevel on the base metal where the pin mounts are attached.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Looks very heavy duty.  With out extra weight you will never be able top put the full horse power to the ground with out spinning out.  I think it would handle it even if you could.  What kind of things will you be pullingDan
Reply:yea, I wanna see the trailer....?  We have winter visitors now who arrive with bigger, and bigger rigs pulling  trailers that  defy gravity.  Keen hitch, do you paint it? or let it brown some.Last edited by PapaLion; 08-07-2012 at 06:36 AM.Lincoln Power MIG 215Lincoln WeldPak 3200HDLincon ProCut 25Lincoln WeldanPower 225 AC/DCIf all else fails... buy more tools
Reply:HOLY CRAP. I was gonna make some comment about a 120 volt mig, but PASS. I was gonna say you shoulda done ...PASS. Reply:Nice and clean.  Looks like what they use around here to move the big sh*t spreaders that go behind tractors.
Reply:The lack of flack is a testiment to the design and the exicution. Nice work. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
Reply:This is the little trailer that will go on that hitch. There is a larger one on the way. They wont be loaded, its only for transport. There is also a large hay trailer with a pintle ring. It can haul 30,000# Yes I know the truck won't have enough traction but there is a plan in the works for ballast. Its all about making one truck very versitile. As for the 2" lower drawbar and the 2" pin That was the customer's preference. But looking at the hitch from the grain cart on my mill Its really not that much bigger. Reply:I see a problem.  If that pin goes through more than 3 tabs at any time, you will bend **** unless on perfectly flat ground. My name's not Jim....
Reply:I've seen guys plow with tractors at trucking lots before. It's fairly common around here. Usually they pour a block of concrete and insert a king pin and chain that down for ballast. A yard or two of crete over the back wheels helps a lot..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan

Reply:To the point. This is one of the nicest hitches I've ever seen posted on any form; CONGRATS!!! and be proud, good build Paul
Reply:You guys are right. you can't put a pin through all 4 peices of drawbar and expect it to work. The hitch on the grain cart only uses the top piece. the bottom piece has a different sized hole for a smaller pin. Just rotate it when using a different tractor.  What you dont see is the machine work that was done after the pic. The holes were elongated front to back. Sorry for the confusion.Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.
