I've been tripping over the electric snow blower all summer. Decided I'd make a rack to hang it by the front door of the shop. Made it quickly from scrap. With some luck it will be out of the way for a few months. I've had this blower for about 3 years. I like it. A lot easier to pull out and use than the gas blower. I also find it works great on the flat roof. It's super easy to carry up the ladder. Attached Images

Reply:I would leave it like shown. More room below to store more stuff and like stated less chance of running into it. I know I would hit it with something for sure. I did something similar after I retired and I should have done it 20 years ago. No time back then.
Reply:Nice. From a quasi-hoarder, hanging stuff (or making shelves up high) is a great way to cram more stuff in a space. From a design standpoint, the mounting holes all being in a line seems like a bit of a weak point, but depending on the width of the member they're in and the weight (and cg distance out from the wall) of the item, I guess it works.I have certain tools too where I prefer an electric version over a gas model. Most notably is the weed whacker. Minor inconvenience with the cord, but it more than makes up for it with it's lack of vibration, quietness, and ability to turn on/off by pressing or releasing the paddle switch. It's a Ryobi electric powerhead with curved shaft string trimmer attachment and a quick-load head with 0.110" line.http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/2025217...ctId=202521731
Reply:Thanks guys. Bottom line I wanted it up and out of my way. I would have hung it higher but I didn't want to have to use the ladder. Come spring and I find it too heavy upside down it's trivial to flip it around and or move the bracket. As for the strength of the bracket. Do you really need a photo of me hanging off it? It was made from scrap... I didn't even have to drill the holes.

Reply:Thank heavens. I wouldn't expect it of you or most people for that matter but I had a neighbor once who once wanted to get his gas lawn mower out of the way and rigged some hooks and, well, you see where I'm going with this. I didn't see the thing upside down but a couple of days later when I went over to see him, the oil and gas stain on the wall was a dead giveaway. And he had to admit it when I asked about it; one of those "what were you thinking?" moments. We both laughed about it.
