Another Miller AEAD-200 LE Brought out of Retirement

Again, like me.Well, I gave the man his money. $500.It isn't worth it as a centerpiece, but it runs, has AC power, all of the taps are good, and the fine tuning works.On the plus side, it comes with a spare starter - just in case, and with a big a$$ oxygen bottle, just because I said I could sure use one.I do need to put in a fuel pump kit, or an electric fuel pump. (Probably electric, cause I'd rather weld than wrench)The seller said his dad bought it used in the late '70s. ( I think it is a '72 model.)They used it for years, until about ten years ago, when he had a complete rebuild done on the engine.Polished crank, pistons, new inserts, valves, guides, rings, etc., etc.During that time they acquired a newer Red machine, and this one was relegated to the role of backup generator during storms.Basically, it has just been sitting, for about 8 years.He poured some new gas in with the old gas (I forgot the Seafoam I was supposed to stop and get), and it started. The longer it ran, the better it ran. then stopped.We spent a couple of hours removing and replacing the carb top. When it would stall, we'd take off the top, and lo and behold, the bowl was full. It perplexed us for  a while, till we put a clear hose between the pump and the carb.Right before it would stall, the gas was not being pushed all the way to the carb.Than, as it stalled, but still had rpms, the demand was gone for fuel, and the gas would be pushed into the carb. Sneaky gas.We also ran his Hobart 140 Wire machine off of one of the 20 amp outlets for a while. Behaved just like it should.The connectors on my Miller 250 Twin are the same size, so I can just swap out the leads on whichever machine I am going to use.I think the two machines are about a year or so apart in age. Anyway, last year, my wife said she wanted a generator for the next time the electricity went out, and who am I to deny my dear wife's wishes???I am stoked!Hobart Beta-Mig 2511972 Miller AEAD-200LEMiller 250 TwinNorthern Ind.
