It ain't pretty, but technically it's my first completed welding project.  I needed a way to practice out of position welding before proceeding with my cnc table. I also needed something to get a bunch of scrap up off the middle of the floor... Practicing horizontal:Got a little better after I slowed the wire feed down to 200 ipm. And vertical up:Don't know what caused the porosity at the end. Frustrating. In Use:Critiques and suggestions are very much welcome. Thanks for looking!MeatWagon: Total NOOB!! 4x8 cnc plasma table build in progress here!

Reply:If you really want to be a good welder...clean that sh!t off the steel...spotless. I recommend a 60 or 80 flap sanding disc. You can get away with a bit of filth or mill scale with flux core...but never with gas. (And, oh yea, you are way too hot for out of position). Cleanliness is next to...well...you know....Last edited by SMC Weldcraft; 09-03-2013 at 09:30 PM.POVERTY...is the Mother of InventionMillermatic 211Millermatic 140Miller Thunderbolt XLArcOne 100STS inverter w/TIGThermal Dynamics 38XL Victor Oxy/AcetyleneJancy Slugger Holemaker IIJet 5x6 BandsawNever enough time & sleep.
Reply:lol I was kidding about the los (lack of skill) just a joke saying we say on the jobsites if someone asks whats wrong with something we say los and walk off, The green horns are like uhhhh what? In all seriousness for what your doing those welds will hold for 100 years till were both long and gone. The pin holes are porosity due to not enough shield gas around your welds or a gust of wind blew the gas away. Or like stated above cleaning your base metals has a big effect on things. I suggest a tiger disc make it shine then go at it. Also from the looks of your verticals you didn't even put a hot pass and filler down before you started to attempt a "z-weave" Hence why your weaves are so far apart.
Reply:LOS, I thought lots of $hit.
