Help picking out a welder!

I am in the market of Purchasing a welder!  I will be doing TIG only on it, welding lots of stainless and aluminum.  Mainly on cars and things of that sort, it needs to be on wheels!  I would like a package that comes with the torch, pedal and everything.  I'm looking for something with good low range.  A machine that does Pulse really well.  And would like to be somewhere in the 4000 dollar range!  Thanks for the help!  Not sure if this is in the right spot.Last edited by headofahessian; 01-27-2009 at 02:11 AM.I WELD

Reply:where can I find the thread on why you made the choice on a thunderbolt? I am curious to find ouy why that was recomended over a mig. I saw one I think was about $50-&100 buck and thought about it. it was a bit rusty but I was still thinking about it. I have seen some real nice restorations of these older machines.
Reply:I found my Lincoln 175 to be a good choice for my Race car Fab shop. Price was right and being air cooled hasn't been an issue. Doing cage work and intercooler piping is pretty much a no brainer for the welder. Having less to hold and not having a the water cooler attached hoses is easier to get into tight spots of a car. If you were going to be welding hours straight then I would get a water cooled machine or if you are going to be welding up 1/4 or greater for 30 mins or longer.Race Car and Hot Rod Fabman
