Hey y'all... Hope everyone's having a great memorial day Anyway, here's my latest video. Its about how to use a volt-meter and a tape measure, or a measuring stick, to see what WFS and voltage your MIG is actually putting out...As you know, not all machines come with digital readouts or standard measurements (IPM, or Metric Equivalent) on the "WFS" dial, and if you're wanting to run, say, 300 IPM at 26 volts for example, you're gonna have to know this stuff...Peter, a buddy of mine, explains how its done with minimal tools, and minimal time. We recently shot a number of videos together and I'm planning to upload one every weekend... It was a blast, I got to learn something new, and I got a table of precise IPM values for my welder written down for future use. It was really fun... And here's the first video. Hope y'all enjoy it [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_zBP-psFUk[/ame][Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:That was cool Lanse, I almost didn't watch it cause i'm a electrical spazz and I leave that up to my friends. But real cool, I learned something. I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:I have a copy of that Lincoln Consumables book. But I also have the pdf file stored in the Evernote app on my phone so I can retrieve all that info wherever I am. ESAB also has a pdf file with their info."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Common information that has been covered numerous times but good video just the same. However, a few critiques.1) Turn the gas off when doing WFS tests to save your shielding gas.2) No doubt he meant 100% CO2 not Argon as he stated when referring to the manufacturer's book.3) I would have slapped him silly if he poked thru my gun power cable insulation. Use the output studs!4) Don't waste wire. Release the drive rolls and wind the wire back onto the spool by spinning the spool backwards.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Since the Hobart 187 has Wire speed tracking, how are you going to get a accurate reading measuring wfs on it? Reply:Damn, the sound of the gas flowing irked me.Why didn't he just measure the volts from the output terminals inside the machine? Seems like it would be fairly easy to add a digital voltmeter onto a machine that way.Last edited by Drf255; 05-28-2013 at 06:00 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
