Confession of a N00b TIG welder

So I took a box of electrodes out to the barn to grind them, and decided to cut up some metal for a project while I was there. I had nothing to mark the metal with, so... yeah. I confess. I used a sharpened tungsten electrode as a scribe.It worked a treat too!I ground it extra when I was done.Everlast PA160-STH... and that's about it!
Reply:I use them as a scribe..Tooth cleaner..Digging out chips from my fingers...Whatever.They are CARBIDE afterall......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:That is one of my best scribes. I have a whole pack of 1/8 pure that someone ordered and I never used. So I drilled a hole in a chunk of old broom handle and sharpened it to a good point. Never goes dull. Dont try and use it for a pick though.If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Reply:I use my stubs after they get too short to clamp in the collet. Reply:On rusty stuff you have to learn to use your thumbnail as a scribe. works like a super fine soapstone. You gotta learn to use your other fingers as a right angle square to make straight lines tho. Comes with practice but works awesome I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
