Has anyone ever made a fab table similar to the stronghand pro build? I'm considering it, but maybe with fewer holes on the top. Also what is available as far as jigs and attachments go that will work with the 5/8" holes? I'm ready to spend a little time and money to make a nice table, and want something that gives me a lot of versatility. And if I could just buy a bunch of jigs/ attachments to work with it that would be awesome... http://www.philswelding.com
Reply:I just looked up a video. I think they use one on the space shuttle.I guess I'm old. I'm still a "tack it to the table" kinda guy.
Reply:i have it. I've also drilled my 4'x4' welding table with 5/8 holes and use the same clamps.here's what i have learned:1. if you're just going to use the holes for clamping, holes don't have to be precision drilled.2. if you're going to be using the blocks, the holes WILL need to be precision drilled. Bottom of the hole needs to be counter sunk to use the hold-down bolts.3. it's easy to convert F clamps into one that will work with the 5/8 hole if you have a lathe.
Reply:Ya i made one about a year ago. I did use a CNC to drill all the holes though. It is great for fixturing etc. I just wish i made it bigger then 4x4.
Reply:looks awesome, arielmiller. Did you make any of the tooling?
Reply:Thanks oxy. i made a few accessories for it but i also bought some clamps etc from stronghand. I am thinking about building a 4x6 now |
