Fitters test

Who has taken a fitters test with I-beam and can you please tell me what does it consist of, and on the prints is it in decimals or fractions for your measurements or any info on this would be highly appreciated
Reply:Hello fowler78, unfortunately without knowing who this test is for, the industry that it is associated with, and many other details, you may not receive any information that is relevant to your question. Try to include the industry: marine, structural, etc. Union/non-union, company, field, shop? These sorts of details will narrow down the range of responses. Best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:thanks aevald,      its field work, structural, for rocket pads an the towers to hold them up, its for space x, i was just curious about what to look for when i go test, we do our fitt ups and weld it out, it's been a while since i done some structural fitting been welding pipe for the last 10 years and fitted nozzles, weld-o-lets and etc. for pipe,last five years just been welding, just won't to go in there with i's dotted  and t's crossed not blind and take a long time for things to come to mind if you no what i'am talking about thank you.
Reply:Hello fowler78, I would plan on brushing up on print reading, have your fitters tools with you, ie. square, tape measure, scribe, soap stone, etc. All square corners on copes, 1/2" radius minimum, avoid any excessive depth of cuts when coping, things like that.
