Hypertherm 45 vs used 600?

I am in the market for a plasma cutter. Considering a Hypertherm 45 or a used 600. Are there any performance differences between the two that would make a noticeable difference? Reply:Nicad,I responded to your PM as well. The Powermax45 is the replacement for the 600. Hypertherm sold over 55,000 600's......and they are a great system. Why replace it? The 45 is lighter, more reliable, has a torch with better visibility, cuts faster, cuts thicker, has higher duty cycle and longer consumable life. I may have missed a couple of things!That being said....the Powermax600 is a great machine.....and there have to be quite a few on the used market. It can use Hypertherm's FineCut consumables for excellent quality on materials thinner than 3/16".....and can cut thicker than it is advertised for. Hypertherm will support the 600 for many years with parts and free tech support. If you can get a 600 for a decent price...and it fits in your cutting thickness range....it's usually a good buy! The operators manual for the 600 can be downloaded from the www.hypertherm.com  web site....look for the library tab at the top of the home page.Jim Colt

Reply:For hobby work the 600 with the newer fine cut consumables is hard to beat.
