This is a bed I made from scratch, everything was bent and snapped with just my own tools, no brakes or presses. I had to cut most with a cutting wheel as the torch would have warped it. The tool boxes are operated by gas struts and the center lid in the far back closes to the lights is a BBQ. Propane bottle is underneath.  It has all L.E.D lighting. I will try and upload of when I first started and the progress. Tell me what you guys think. Attached ImagesLast edited by Shakawelding; 08-23-2013 at 10:07 PM.

Reply:Looks good. What kind of truck is that? The body lines almost look like an old jeep. I don't think they sell those over here. I really like the snorkel.Bruce DeLaetHeavy Equipment Mechanic and Welder1948 SA-200 short hood1949 LincWelder 1801963 SA-200 red faceMiller S-32-P
Reply:I have just recently moved to Australia from the states and had my welder sent over. They have never seen a classic 300D over here let alone most of the Lincoln models. The truck is a Toyota landcruiser that was never introduced to the states. It was in Canada.

Reply:Just wondering, how do you open the side panels for servicing the engine/welder?
Reply:I have little clips on then that I can slide off
Reply:What sort of work do you plan on doing? I would have thought you'd have a whole heap of trouble using that welder over here due to Queensland's super strict OH&S laws an welders having to proper class VRD.

Reply:question to the OP, how well does that thing handle all the weight from the welder and the bed?  any plans for a torch rig on it?
Reply:dunno what it is about this rig I love everything about it. the bed really compliments the shape of the main body. Good work. now make a bumper to match!!!

Reply:The land cruiser handles the weight great! I do have air bags on as well but they are only pumped to 50psi. A torch rig? Meaning having my acety and oxy on as well? They are on there now, oxy behind the cab and acty vert behide welder. And thanks bostick101 appreciate the compliment!
Reply:Is that a diesel cruiser or the old petrol? The old 6 cylinder diesels were good old rigs. If they were looked after they were only just run in at 3 or 400 thousand kilometres.

Reply:Yes this is the 1996 diesel landcruiser with the 1hz motor. Like you said these are very tough and long lasting if you just keep up the maintenance. Itdrives great and handles great. I can also put a turbo on it and increase power by 46% which is unreal! I will be doing that after I save a little more money. I can put some pictures of the tool boxes and BBQ that's on the back later.
Reply:They used to be pretty popular in the undergroud mines here too but I haven't seen any in ages. There's a specialist landcruiser wrecker in town that had a 40' shipping container full of turrets pulled of cruisers that were heading inderground. I know a few people who have put the turbo kits on. Get it done in under half a day. Just keep the EGT's low and they will go real good. I'd love to buy a cruiser but the old ones are no good for my use and the new ones are too expensive.Last edited by D1cko; 08-30-2013 at 03:26 AM.
Reply:I still think you should make that into a dually conversion. I know you cant fit down what ever tight spaces that trucks for but it would look so beastly.
Reply:Originally Posted by D1ckoThere is a lot of legislation over here when it comes to welders and anything electrical. The two main things are RCDs on the 240volt power and VRDs on the welding terminals. That's one of the reasons we don't get all the engine drives that are available in the states. A good example is my big blue air pak. When it landed in Australia it had to have the power sockets changed to all weather sockets that meat the austalian standards and have an RCD/earth leakage device installed and then a Voltage Reduction Device fitted to reduce the open circute voltage on the weld terminals. They are made by a company called SafeTac. Then to complicate things more, there are different category's or VRDs and the 'rules' very between commercial, civil, mining and the pipelining sectors. It's a cluster**** over here. I just set everything to be BMA coal mine approved because they have the strictest rules. I hope that makes sense.
Reply:pretty much. The fines are pretty over the top. A few years ago some of the guys I work with were on a roof that had 1m high facias all the way around and got a $5000 fine for not having harnesses on and the business got something like $50,000 fine. That was commercial work. If you use non-approved equipment on a mine they will boot you off site for ever and since there are 4 main mine operators here, (Rio Tinto, BMA, Xstrata, and Anglo American) if you are off one of their sites you are off all of them.
Reply:Glad to see beurocratic misery spares noone the world overOn a lighter note, I'm intrigued and impressed by the onboard BBQ. Only ever saw 1 of those elsewhere round here. Damned neat idea.Nice build, more pics, and good luck to ya with your move and your whole situation. Sounds like a heck of an adventure. If you fight long enough, you will win. The problem is it costs too damned much.- Lee Cheng
Reply:I have definitely thought about doing that and I really want to. I'm going to look into it more. With the putting a turbo on this truck the main thing is to keep the EGT down as D1cko said. If you have to much EGT it can cause the head to crack! In regardes to bellflower; thanks for the comment. I will get some more pictures up. And the adventure has been going well just need to get out there now.

Reply:I have heard the same about the turbo so I will keep those as low as I can. Thanks again
Reply:Nice ! BUT. You forgot to build a snorkel for the Lincoln
Reply:Ha I did didn't I! I will have to get on that ASAP
