I just bought a 350p and it is on its way.  I have a MM211.  I am a hobbyist.  Financially I don't need to sell my 211 to pay for the 350P.  Is it worth the $800 I would get out of it to sell it or should I hold on to it to have a portable welder?
Reply:Do you do portable work with it now?Do you plan to in the future?Do you get attached to equipment and need a support group to help you say goodbye?  (ok, maybe that one is just me )Those are really the only questions I can think of. Reply:Personally I think it should be a law, no one should have more than one welder!Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:If your gonna be doing any kind of mobile welding, keep the 211.Or sell it and buy a stick welder.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024

Reply:I think if you sell it you could be brought up on charges. The 211 is a pretty awesome machine plus the multi voltage could be handy. I would keep and leave it set with .030 wire. I have my 211 setup with .030 and a 140 Miller with .023. It maybe  expensive to have multiple machines with different wire but could save time and time is money even for a hobby guy. My vote is to keep it. You'll sell it and then you will be sorry.
Reply:I would def keep it!  You can never have too many!  Hahaha

Reply:Keep it, put in small wire, and larger wire on the 350. I have 6 machines, and they all serve a different purpose. My little MM140 has .023 wire in it for sheet metal work. My MM200 has either .030 or .035 and is used when I need 2 mig machines running at the same time, and my XMT304 has .035, or .045 wire in it for general fab work, and the LN25 usually has .035 in it for field tie in welds. Cant have too many welders.
Reply:Here is some more info:I have a Thunderbolt XL as well.  Also I want to buy a Dynasty 280 in the future and learn TIG.  At that point I will sell my Thunderbolt and use the TIG as the portable stick outfit.  So the verdict is keep the 211 and load it with .023 for sheet metal and run the 350P with .035?
Reply:I think the official verdict is "buy more welders" actually Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Its an addiction, but when my parents friends and family ask why I spend my money on tools, welders in particular, I always say "I could be buying much worse **** with my money than another welder" Miller Spoolmate 200 w/t S-52 WirefeederMM 211'09 Miller Trailblazer 302

Reply:Its actually a pretty good 12 step:1 Show up and ask an innocent question about your harbor freight welder2 Realize you don't know ****3 Try to get more info on youtube and find Welding Tips and Tricks and Chucke20094 Realize that your harbor freight welder is never going to cut it when you build your roll cage5 Sell your harbor freight welder to your brother for like $256 Spend at least 2 weeks every night until midnight reading threads about other dudes buying welders7 Realize there is no way you could possibly live without a welder8 Spend an entire dinner promising your wife that you will weld her stuff if it breaks.  (Since she only buys clothes neglect to tell her you can't weld high heels back together)9 Buy a real welder10 Realize that if all your welders are the same color (Blue or Red) she won't realize you own more than one11 Discover Cyberweld and then get an increase on your credit card limit12 Realize that if you weld you should of course have a lathe and start all over again.See, the 12 steps work perfectly.
Reply:Excellent list - btw, vintage lathes and mills are awesome - love mine Oh yeah, 12 steps not 10 - no wonder I never get any better Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:I'm glad you are keeping it so I won't feel so bad about keeping at least 2 I don't have to have. And I found that HF and NT moving blankets make great covers and camouflage an extra welder or two. I've noticed when the wife comes in the shop and 2 or 3 are covered she never says anything like OMG how many welders do you need? I'm thinking maybe 1 more!Thermal Arc 210 - Tweco 211I - Cutmaster 52
