Victor sr 260a and 250c. Both are weather worn and need to be rebuilt. It is gonna cost close to $90 to rebuild with shipping. Are these worth it? Reply:That's a good question and I hope someone can answer. I have 5 or 6 now that are bad and stacked up on a shelf. Just bought a new HTP argon regulator, just a no brainer. Short of stripping these old ones of all the good fittings and gauges.....maybe just scrap for the brass....
Reply:I would think so. Then you should have a real good set of gauges. You can rebuild them yourself too. You can get kits for them.
Reply:I checked on the internet and you can get the kits for 14 and 20 bucks for your regs.
Reply:given that new victors are $175 each, I would say yes, have them rebuiltMiller Multimatic 255

Reply:Honest it wont hurt abit. Just Google --- 250 Victor regulator kit .
Reply:I think it is a bad idea for the average person to rebuild their own regs. Send them to a pro. Those regs are $175 each brand new ($350 for the pair). If you can get them built for $90 each, you are still better off.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:if you're going to rebuild them they have to be super super clean. any form of hydrocarbon (even the oil from you skin) can cause bad things to happen when oxygen comes into contact with it
Reply:My local Airgas quoted me at $55 to rebuild a two stage Victor and $79 for a new Esab with lifetime warranty. So far I have done neither, I bought a new HTP argon and 2 used single stage oxyacet off ebay for cheap and happy with them.
Reply:that's a shame. the ESAB warranty is rock solid. they sent me brand new ones when I sent my old ones in for repair. They really do stand behind their stufff.Miller Multimatic 255 |
