Reply:Im a Lead burner by trade, used for lead annodes, lead lined tanks, great for sulfuric acid,Lead pipe for pipe coils, cooling or steam!,And alot of radio stations use sheet lead for the Dj room,,Masons use it for flashing, well good masons use it!! Theres quite a few things,Just watch for any water when melting it,or you will be wearing it,,Preheat your ladle real good to get any condisation out!!!! I Burn it,thats what they call it lead Burning?????????? Guess it was the first thing to be welded, cause th melting point is so Low,,I and all old time lead burner use oxy and hydrogen,Alot cleaner than acc. Just be carefull with the splatters! If you have a face shield, wear it!!!! I know!,Jack Attached Images
Reply:Quite a while ago, an old friend was renovating a local Hospital and I ended up with 2200 # of sheet lead in the driveway. It was selling as scrap for $0.15/lb at that time. I tried to find someone who wanted the pure lead for black powder balls or ?? but finally, a year later, hauled it off and scrapped it, then getting $0.10/lb. A week later, I got a call from a fellow who wanted to pay me $0.50/lb for all of it!Timing is everything! |
