need some aluminum advice!!

I have a welding test coming up next week. The test is a 3G with TIG, t-joint with MIG, and possibly a pipe test all aluminum. I am strong with TIG, MIG, and stick on carbon, as well as plenty pipe experience. I don't have much experience with aluminum. If you guys could throw some welding wisdom my way I would greatly appreciate it. Please be serious not looking for smart *** remarks. Thanks!

Reply:Its for a company I am looking to get hired on with. I don't have any pics unfortunately. I am down in Florida visiting my folks and thought I might put some applications in seeing that I would like to move down here. Didn't think I would get a call back as fast as I did and sure as hell didn't think I would have an interview/ assessment so soon. So no pictures, no equipment, not even a pair of boots lol. Like I said I have minor aluminum experience but I have plenty carbon with MIG, TIG and Stick. I know how to stack dimes and overall general knowledge of working with aluminum. I have been pipe welding and doing fab type stuff but really want to get into alloy work. The only thing I am really trying to read up on is vertical with aluminum. Thanks for the reply!

Reply:Oh yeah I have watched Jody many of times!! Lots of good information. Matter of fact that's what I've been watching today taking notes and what not. I think I'm just hyping myself up but when I do something especially welding I like to make sure its done right. I have always wanted to get into alloy work and this is my opportunity.  I wish I knew what type of equipment they used so I could get a one up. I'm hoping that its like a dynasty, syncrowave, or even a C300 would be great. I guess what I'm kinda poking around at is stuff like settings and freq's.
Reply:Depends on what you are used to I think.  I've never used a newer machine and have only experience at 60Hz with a 50/50 balance for neg/positive so that's the settings I'd have to use or I'd screw up. Reply:yeah I've jotted down the setting he said. I plan on doing some practice runs just to get something dialed in. Who knows maybe 60 and 50/50 might be it. Thanks for the help!
