I found these on Norther Tools:http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...m_ite=metalfabWhy only that size?  I would like to have several sizes.  FarmerSamm posted some pictures of some yellow metal ones that were hinged, but I can't find that thread.Later in my search, I found a kit of many different sizes that were magnetic.  Just slap them on, mark, cut.  But I can't remember if it did the 90 degree.  But, now I can't find that website that had those.Anyone care to share what they use?  I know some of you simply eyeball it.  But I'm not that good yet. It's not what you can buy, it's what you can build.
Reply:Why not just make your own templets ?  I have a book here about templet development for pipe, had it for school.  Why dont you get a book and learn to make your own templets for any size pipe you may need ?  The book is called Templet development for the pipe trades by R.P. Jones.....
Reply:2 3/8" and 2 7/8" are standard oilfield pipe. Oilfields supplies and some LWS have them in stock. LWS can get standard pipe templates for 2", 3", etc., too. They might have to order them? There are several different types of pipe templates available, too, besides the metal ones. Some are made from gasket material like the wrap arounds. Some aren't that heavy. Try typing "pipe templates" into google. Bet you find more than you're bargainin' for!Last edited by gizzardgutz; 07-01-2009 at 09:31 PM.Reason: spOnly when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:Here is the homepage for the northern templates,  It appears they only sell to retailers though.  http://www.pipeproguides.com/ There are some thread on this forum showing how to use a bandsaw/saw to make notches. Somebody also posted a schedule of the degrees to cut for different angles.  Perhaps you can dig it up or maybe somebody would share the information.I used a lowbuck notcher, I think it only cuts up to 1.5" pipe. Here's a thread, an explanation of using a chop saw is near the end of the thread.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...light=notchingLast edited by tapwelder; 07-01-2009 at 10:31 PM.

Reply:I have been using "Tube Mitre" for quite a few years. The only hiccup is having to convert diameter and wall thickness to metric. It's freeware...prints the template on plain paper.http://www.ozhpv.org.au/resources/shed/tubemiter.htmlRex
