My Lincoln V300 Pro died on Sept,17 2009 . I am looking for a new inverter. I will only use it with my LN-25 and 220v single phase power. I mostly run .045 dual shield. It must be a SMALL light workhorse.Any suggestions?DAG NABIT, I left my tape on the saw.Wild Fire Welding
Reply:Not worth it to attempt to repair it?if your fed up with lincoln you could switch to miller and then when your are fed up with miller switch to a lincoln lol

Reply:looks like its been to hell and back and off to alaska it goes lolthe problem with inverter machines is they have tons of tiny little pieces that could break,i took apart my miller deltaweld to repaint it there aint much inside of it the only part that is digital is the part that displays voltages and regulates/controls the power (which i didnt open up)but the rest was a fan, 3 tranformer dealies, 6 caps, one smaller SCR transformer dealie and thats about it not much to break really but at 300 pounds not exactly portableSoon everything will be inverter it may even be happening now, but simple doesnt break I have a 50's miller stick and it still works great its so old it doesnt even HAVE a FAN,they say the inverters are much better at saving power yet miller claims 84 percent efficency from the deltaweld and 87percent from the XMT series,3 percent is really nothing unless your running 100 welders all day.I wonder if the newer millers are going this way, at my work we have a miller 212 and its a 2007 the fan runs all the time when it is turned on and it makes the typical buzzing noise, they just bought another the new auto set 212 the fan is on demand and it doesnt make any noise when turned on its weird

Reply:Your 400 SMT has DC CC/CV output only, no AC. You can mig, dc tig and stick weld with it. If you hunt Ebay, you can find pulsing pendants for it too. I have the mig pulser for mine and they made a tig pulser too.My 300 SM makes a cool EEEEEEEEEE sound when welding. Also does some clicking and other interesting noises. All this is normal. We had 2 of these at my old job and they both did the same thing. Mine doesn't vibrate, except for the fan whirrng, which runs anytime the machine is on.These PowCons were used alot in shipyards, construction and manufacturing. Alot of them still around working fine so I'm guessing they're tough little machines. If you have a problem with it, first place to contact is Arc Products in National City or San Diego, CA. The people there used to manufacture PowCons and are now the main service center for all things PowCon.Last edited by DesertRider33; 09-20-2009 at 09:38 AM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:The 14-pin connector on my PowCon is clocked differently than a Miller 14-pin. Same number of pins in the same arrangement, but they're rotated in a different position in relation to the slots on the plug body, so the plugs will not fit into the wrong machine. I'm guessing this is probly cause the PowCon uses different resistance value for the pot in the controller. You can get a new amphenol connector for it from Arc Products, which is where I got mine when I needed to wire a new Cobramatic to it. You can get a tig pedal for it from SSC or Arc-Zone.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Wow, I got my 300SM for $50 from my old job, and that price included an old Cobramatic MK3A feeder, which I sold for $75 without the torch. I see PowCons on Craig's List often down here (since NASSCO and Arc Products are both so close by). They usually go for $300-1000.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:You're right. I just checked the connector on my WC24 with the one on the PowCon and the Miller connector is a little bigger. The pin shape is turned in relation to the keyway and a little different shape with the pins a little further apart on the Miller. I never noticed that before. All I remembered was they don't fit with eachother and I had to get the PowCon connector from Arc Products, whereas Airgas had the Miller connectors.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Dually, I'll certainly send you a message next time I see a good deal.I hear NASSCO has equipment auctions once in a while. A friend of a friend bought a bunch of gas bottles there once and another guy I talked to said he bought some equipment on auction from them before. You would probly have to just watch the websites of known equipment auction companies, unless you know someone within NASSCO that can give you the heads up on when an auction will be happening and what company is handling it. I don't personally know anyone working down there anymore. Member KCStott said he worked at NASSCO or something and lives right down there in Nat City so he might know more about it. There are a few other shipyards right nearby that area too. You may also check government auctions since the Navy has their own shipyard right next to NASSCO and does some of their own work. How I find PowCons and other welding equipment is looking on Craigs List. If you check out www.searchtempest.com, you can search Craig's List in a bunch of areas at once, up to like 500 miles radius. I was doing that when I was looking for an F450. Found alot of them up by you. Some of the people who hit the auctions turn the stuff around on Craig's List. That's how I got my XMT. The guy bought it at an auction along with a bunch of other stuff and he didn't know how to operate the XMT or what to do with it, so he put it up on Craigs for a good price. It was nice, worked good and the ser # checked out so I bought it.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith opOriginally Posted by app-ironworksllcI'll give you your cost plus shipping, too.Nice Score.

AC TIG, small (inverter) and cheap are not words that all go in the same sentence. Eliminate the 'cheap' and my rec is the TA185 (Thermal Arc). Best bang for the buck out there. Second would be the HTP Invertig 201. More money, but the Dynasty 200SD would be a good choice too, or DX if you like pulse.
