Reply:that ellis 1800 is a great looking machine, but might be slightly on the large size for my purpose.ill see if i can squeeze one in as im sure it would be a work horse.G
Reply:i dont see any cutting fluid offered for the 1600 or the 1800.if this is the case then does it matter that it doesnt have that option?does anyone use this a lot without fluid?G
Reply:When I used to work for R+B we had a 1800 ellis.  For 3 years I ran it daily and never used fluid one day.  We ran it at a slow blade speed and the blades they make last for ever.  It cut 1/4" - 1/2" steel all day long.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers

Reply:Ellis is a dry cut only saw....according to Ellis. They work great, too. Too bad I don't have one. I did just pick up a used Jet 7x12 for 300 clams recently though. Its a pretty good saw, albeit messy.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS

Reply:when you get down to it you get what you pay for. years ago stuff made inusa was better than japan then japan was better taiwan now taiwan is better than china whats next china better than india
Reply:I've been using a chinese horizontal saw for about a dozen years, (Rong Fu) and it's worked great. It cost about 650 from J&L IIRC. Not much used equipment around here, Dallas is mostly a white collar town.

Reply:If you are looking for a good band saw for cheap you can find good deals on ebay. I would try to find local sellers that are close to you if you can find them, because shipping can be real expensive if its real heavy. Good luck.Read my blogs on welding, I think you may like them a lot if you have lots of questions and you are new to welding. www.learnhowtoweld.wordpress.com
