My Fun For The Week, Piping Job

I got a call from a mechanical contractor I do work for that they need some piping run for a gas conversion, 3 story office building, with new rooftop units going in. 3" main down to 2 1/2" to the units, down to 2" for the tie in.Here is the start, fab up a 40' riser that goes from the meter to the roof.Yes we hung it with the man lift, if you dont like it, you pay for the crane.....getting set up on the roof, next postDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:How do ya like welding that Thai pipe ?.. That crap can really be a pain to thread.... hard spots, out of round..... ridges at the seams....the list goes on !
Reply:Wheatland USA made pipe,most of the fittings were Weldbend USA made with the odd Vietnamese one thrown in. All in all Independent Pipe usually sends out good stuff.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:2nd tier contractors get to be a gray area, a lot of the insurances make you list them as additionally insured and your umbrella insurance can cover some things. I know for me as a general contractor, we carry at least a 2 mil liability for most projects and we have to list all of our subs as additionally insured.

Reply:I did exactly what the guy paying me wanted, weld procedure was "as long as it dosent leak" I just ran 6010 all the way out. I have to go back and meet the gas company for the meter tie in in a week or so.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
