Picked up a used cutmaster 38, like it so far but have a couple questionsThe guy used the thing on a plasma table mostly, when I got it he had installed a standoff like this on the gun. Now the cyberweld page says specifically not to use this with the cutmaster 38. I also notice that the tips all say "drag tip". Am I right to assume that this gun is meant to be used as a drag gun and to stop useing the standoff? Also I have spare of everything except a shield and a plasma starter. Are the starters really necessary to keep spares of, how often do they go bad (I am a hobbiest) and are the heavy duty shields worth the extra cash (looks like the have a brass ring at the bottom)Finally I also got a new compressor and am moving into a new shop. I am planning on setting up to have the whole shop with filtered, dry air. I was looking at filter options, thinking about a HF dessicant tube for drying or a motorguard filter, but who makes a particulate filter that is 1/2" in and out? I am mostly finding 1/4 or 3/8 ones. Thanks
Reply:The drag tip can be dragged right on the steel and works great. Just keep the tip slightly angled away from the direction you are going. As to the starter's. I have never lost mine yet but they will go over time. I don't bother keeping a spare as my LWS stocks them. It would be nice though.Good luck with the plasma , Great unit.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
