Weld critique and advice?

Hello everyone.  I posted on the introduce yourself thread a while back and am finally getting back to post a weld and ask for some advice.  I have been practicing with my miller 211 and feel pretty comfortable in some positions.  Example.this is connecting two pieces of 1.5" x1.5"x.125" tube.  This to my eye looks acceptable can anyone offer any other comments?My question is, despite my feeling of comfort in this 1g position, as soon as I switch it up positions it seems to go to hellExamples are, what I think would be called a lap joint in the 2g position.  For instance welding the top of an L bracket on to a piece of tube.or an outside corner joint on 1/8" material.  Can anyone comment on technique or settings changes that might be necessary for differing positions?  I have kept the settings the same.  IE the 2g and outside corner joints are done with the same settings as my 1g picture shows.  Should I modify my settings as I change position, or is it all technique and I need to practice more?ThanksB
Reply:Weld looks like it might be just a tad on the tall side. But with no data on wire size, wire speed, machine settings, It's just really a blind guess.As far as settings, we keep the settings fairly similar at the tech school. We turn the volts and wire speed down just a bit when doing outside corners. I can't really give you any feedback on how to solve your issues without picts and settings. I can think of a thousand things you could be doing wrong, and I might still not come close to your problem with no info to go on..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
