Reply:Ok ... now i know what welds are SUPPOSED to look like .. but what is the slotted thing under the tubeframe in your photo?  looks like MDF.  Is it custom or commercial?dmac257
Reply:I was trying to figure out what they tube frame was supposed to be.
Reply:Thanks for the compliments guys The tube frame is a Formula SAE chassis that I welded for the guys here at the local university. The MDF boards underneath it is all custom made. The one one with holes were drilled on a CNC router, then press on "nuts" were put in each hole to be able to bolt things through it. Used for various things. The slotted pieces, are also router cut, its a jig to hold all the tubing in the proper place. Here's a video from a car 4 years ago. They build a new chassis every year though:You can see the jigs at use for the back end of the car in that video. Just had to google what the nuts were actually called : Threaded T-nut
