Started up my own welding business back in January and ive recently started getting more involved with it, finally had enough money. Got a space, got my shop setup, advertised and now im starting to get some work in. Reply:Dave. Go after builders.BIG builders. You'll get a bunch of repetitive crap that will pay all the bills allowing you to have fun !Cookie cutter houses = 6 columns 7'4", 3 columns 7'7. Reply:Burpee, when you say builders you mean general contractors? Or commercial building contractors. Not alot of new homes going up in my area. I have a mailer i send out to shops and some i do cold sales amd give them a broucher. Any suggestions on what type of business to contact for that sort of thing?-DaveAll Custom Welding and Fabrication
Reply:If you have an area powder coater then get in the good with him. I do all the welding for one and it is a substantial amount of money every year. Granted, there is lots of patio furniture to be fixed but it all pays the same.

Reply:Im just about to start a hand rail job for a 5 storey wooden stair case outside of a apartment complex. First big job, actually had to take a deposit for the first time! I have been getting alot of aluminum work recently too. Starting an aluminum fence project, a 20ft dock all aluminum and other misc things. Work is starting to get more steady, ill be posting some new pics soon!-DaveAll Custom Welding and Fabrication

Reply:Yeah i have a seamless gutter company aswell. That helps gst me work from contractors but mostly my work comes from word of mouth, cold sales and advertising. -DaveAll Custom Welding and Fabrication
Reply:Good Idea, find some custom builders they need columns, hangers, stairs and often gates. Have stuff that is repetitive and just cut it put it in the jig, weld and prime. Reply:Here is a job i started today, its a grille cover the customer wants it 4" tall instead of 15". Heres it already cut down with a couple supports i added in.-DaveAll Custom Welding and Fabrication Attached Images
