does anybody know what some good quality burr bit brand names? I just bought a dewalt die grinder and need to get some burr bits. And can you tell if they last a long time or what?

Reply:Even the import stuff does a pretty good job.
Reply:I bought a whole bunch of them off a lady here. I don't think I'll ever have to buy another one again lolShe may have more.... Price was very reasonable. Great to deal with.Weldingpup is the member ID.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:i need to find some Double Cut Carbide burrs for raip metal removel.  i looked for that lady you were talking about and couldn't find her.
Reply:Some are better than others but I don't the brand names. One piece are better than the ones with the burr brazed on.
Reply:I thought they were all brazed on to the shank.
Reply:I've had good success with "Monster", carbide.  Be careful until you get some idea of how fast they cut...don't be fooled by the name/site http://www.monstertool.com/monster_t...r_monster.html these are top quality tooling items.
Reply:i'm looking at Astro Pneumatic 2181 8Pc   or Ingersoll Rand 814TIN 9pc.  there both pretty high but i think they will last longer.  anybody tired any of them yet?
Reply:I think it is more down to user skill as to how they last. You can wreck them quick no matter what they cost you.
Reply:ya monster burrs do look pretty since they also make bits for mill i  bet there high quality!
Reply:Pferd has good quality bits. http://www.pferdusa.com/products/202a/index.html
Reply:well, i probabaly abuse them, and stick them in places that shouldn't, like grinding seams out of small dia. pipe., and   I lose hold, and the bur crashes, and the bur is'nt much good anymore.    So It's not like i ever wear them out, i destroy them.    Ya know, carbide is great for wear resistance, but not the best thing for interupted cuts and crashes.    So, the best, isn't necessarily the best for me.   But for the money, i was buying Atrax, but found that some of the SGS are better for me.   I think they have some tungsten mixed into them.   Best for the money i found for my applications.    I got one i bought at a surplus store years ago for 6 bucks.   I cant seem to crack it if i tried.   No name on it, wish i knew what it was, its shaped like sphere.   Anyway, if your talking the 150$ dewalt elect grinder w/ a paddle, that is an excellent grinder.    i like it better than the 210$ milwakee.    reason being, the milwaukee has to much power for its durabilty.    i bent the arbor on my milwaukee, so i bought the dewalt, its less power, so it easier on the structure when you abuse it.

Reply:Don't forget when the burr is beyond use to you you still have a nice hunk of carbide to re purpose.I never tried one this way but a guy told me he uses old carbide to dress grinding wheel.Last edited by mikecwik; 03-08-2015 at 09:48 AM.

Reply:Excellent source for Import or USA.  http://www.wttool.com/index/page/cat...gory_id/13996/  Most of my milling/cutting tools come from here, with the exception of annular cutters (best prices are generally on Ebay)"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Still have to come for a visit one of these days, Sambo. It irks me that Wholesale Tools has the surface plates so cheap, but that any of the shippers could and would deliver a package of granite gravel. Reply:What you don't want to have happen using a rotary file. Pretty impressive that it did not chip out.
Reply:I never saw or thought about pherd burs.   I'm thinkin they gotta be good w/ bein german and a name like that.     I don't like there flap wheels, but love there 6" .40 cut off wheels.     I use them for cutting large dia. pipe w/a 6" metabo used  exclusively for cutoff wheels.    the wheels are more flex and squirmy, but they last and cut like no tomorrow.     I'm going to look into them next time
