what is the recommended electrical needed for the precision tig 185
Reply:It will run on 35 amps but you should have a 70 amp for max output. Here is a link to the manual. It has all the info you need. http://content.lincolnelectric.com//...r/im/IM832.pdfCheck out page 9Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:damn i only have a 100 amp service in my house
Reply:I would have to look to be sure. but I have my 185 pt on a 40 amp breaker and has never tripped.the machine will over heat but, never tripped a breaker.Daye
Reply:the lincoln manual says a 35 amp breaker (but also lists a 70 amp breaker for maximum duty.) that's nuts! lincoln also recommends 8-3 cable, but later shows that you get higher dut cyle if using a 6-3 cable from the panel to the welder.
Reply:On 40 amps with my PT, not tripped yet even with the peddal to the metal for aluminium. Maybe if I had water cooler hooked to it might be able weld constant enough to pop the breaker at 40 amps. Have tripped the breaker though with Lincoln AC235 with 240V on the 208V primary.Lincoln PT185 TIGLincoln 175 MIGLincoln 240 amp AC StickLind Needle Arc plasma welderPlasma cutter, soon???
Reply:I had some breaker issues when I first got my Tig machine. Also, had to take into account the thickness of the electrical cable going to my 220 wall plug because that wire will get seriously hot with an oversized breaker.
Reply:I have my PT225 on a 50 amps breaker even though Lincoln lists a higher one for max output. I have used it wide open doing some aluminum and never tripped the breaker yet. I would personally recommend a 50 myself. You choice. I agree with you Burningmetal that 70 amps does seem to high but I would think it might be better for the welder. Not sure though.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed. |
