Reply:A little Leary about dealing with the wheelie guys since there's always the chance of liability issues. We will see, I mean the guys  are already abusing the bike before they meet my product...   Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:Just say it's to prevent the frame paint from getting scratched when the engine moves down upon landing. Maybe these guys need to stuff a couple rubber door-stop wedges under the case when they are going to wheelie."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Neat idea. Do a Youtube install video (with some pics of broken cases too) and maybe pass out a few review samples to different motorcycle forums.

Reply:Hi all- So I think your entrepreneurship is great and I ride a Harley Dyna Wide Glide so wheelies are rather out for me but if I did... and I was 30-years younger... I would. But years ago, I designed a special camera mount for a guy; more detailed than that but that'll suffice for the issue now. Anyway, he used it but didn't use a small bolt the way I made it for him so a shim fell out when he was moving it across a street location shoot with the camera on the tripod like it NEVER should be done more than a couple of feet and his F-900 came loose hitting the ground. So he sues me for $7500 repair bill Band Pro/Sony charged him and the judge found me $3500 negligent and him the other half. I can only imagine what would happen if a kid with your mounts crashed and blamed the mount. Have you looked into insurance to cover something like this? I don't mean to be a glass of cold water but I was just thinking. Bad things happen to good people.

Reply:Already gave that some thought and because of the use intended I doubt I would be in trouble since we are talking about a guy doing wheelies on the public streets.....Already breaking the law....See where Im going with this.....called "Dirty Hands"  courts throw that stuff out.I'm not worried.....Its not a MOUNT......Its a travel limiter  Last edited by B_C; 10-27-2013 at 01:40 PM.  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:Write up a disclaimer and ship it with the product, have a lawyer review it and make sure the verbage is proper and that it should cover you to some extent. At least that way you can prove that a good faith effort was given to inform the customer that this is not a cure all product and these machines are not built for what they are using them for.

Reply:Originally Posted by makoman1860BC, You are free to do whatever you want, and people are free to bolt on whatever they want. However this is something that I would strongly advise against. You are changing the mounting strategy, the isolation and any number of other things that can directly affect handling of the motorcycle. In a court system you are very liable in this venture. Also I will be perfectly honest with you here, even having this product in an open forum like this, with people questioning it, is a liability. Should a wrongful death case come your way, they will pull everything, even this forum and thread into it. I work with guys from harleys engineering department, and quite honestly they cringed when shown your travel limiter. Im not trying to be a wet blanket, but this moves into some very dangerous territory. Courts can get nasty, real nasty, and they eat up people that have casual attitudes about liability.
Reply:Can we see your Dyna??? I'll trade pics but mine's not a Bob; it's a Wide Glide... or used to be before a bankroll of chrome and paint!!!

Reply:Nice one, BC.  I like the marketing picture too.  Out of curiosity, here do you source this kind of rubber material from?  (McMaster-Carr?)
Reply:It's a great idea BC, but I'd worry about liability and never ship it with that decal you made up. The world has gotten just plain stupid.  Atlas IS SHRUGGING.I fixed an aluminum ladder for a friend who's a landscaper. The type with a wide base and narrow top on one side, and a single pivoting pole on the other. Designed to put into/over a bush or tree to allow pruning.  He told me I could just keep it because he himself was worried about liability if one of his workers fell off a repaired ladder.  He went to buy a new one and the company told him good luck finding one.  They stopped selling them 8 years ago when they got sued for someone falling off of one.  They lost in court.  Told him they don't know if anyone sells them anymore.  Could you imagine?  They sell a new product to someone who falls off of it and they're liable.  Makes no sense. So we're getting to a point in society where useful products won't be made anymore because of liability arising from a few losers that blame everyone for their stupidity and sue people. I gave my buddy back his ladder with strict instructions to never tell anyone I fixed it. He said he wrote on it "this ladder may have been repaired by anyone except DRF255".Rant over.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:There's a difference between listed in a suit and being held liable for the 'whatever'. In todays world if you touched it or looked at it or gave advice concerning it, you will be listed in the suit. The only way to make yourself free from suits is to set real still and not do anything. Maybe make a living suing people that do make things."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore RooseveltIs this replacing the motor mount or is it in addition to? I understand everyone's concerns about the liability maybe try to get a patent then quickly sell it to Arlen Ness or similar company who already has insurance and a marketing structure ?
Reply:Hahahahaha you guys are a bunch of worry warts.....Being sued is the last thing I worry about.....If you would pay attentionto how the part works you would see why Im not worried......Wheelie guys are the only ones that BREAK CASES.......and in time they will ALL break....This part keeps that from happening.....BECAUSE.......only wheelie guys will be buying this PAD.......CRASH because of the pad?   HOW?   And you mentioned Parents taking me to court for their kid getting hurt.........Dude get a grip these are 30 year olds.....Last edited by B_C; 11-04-2013 at 07:36 PM.  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
