I am making a luggage rack for the bed rails system in my truck bed. I have 2 pieces of C-Channel laying around I would like to use. I plan on welding it to steel plate on each side and attaching that to the utilitrac in my nissan frontier. I would like to provide some more support for the underside of the c channel but I can't think of the best way to do that. I thought about buying some Simpson Strong Tie HL33 7-Gauge 3-Inch by 3-Inch Heavy Angle(link below) but idk..... Basically I would like some sort of 90 degree L bracket that I could bolt to the steel plate as well as welding around the C-Channel. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005QMWVEA/...=IKT4MUJYPMDP5Attached like this but with C-Channel facing down.http://www.xterraperformance.com/DEP...ara_p_109.html
Reply:You can make your own strong ties by purchasing some 3x3x3/8 angle and cutting it. Even 3x3x1/4 would be more then plenty to hold what your making. You could buy a large piece for the $30 your spending on 4 of them.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
