Anyone have any pics or plans for a bolt on rake for a skid steer bucket? Not talking about a landscape type, but one with rods that that can be welded onto a plate or split pipe.It would be used to pick up (not a grapple) limbs and such and could also used to scoop up rocks without tearing up the landscape to bad.I've not been able to find anything to send to someone in another location.
Reply:Sounds like you're looking for a set of what used to be called manure tines. Haven't seen any for quite awhile, but JD buckets used to be drilled for them at the factory. The tines were made of square stock, maybe 1" or 1-1/2"? Stuck out of the bucket a foot maybe? Should be able to find pics online...I know for a fact they were factory options on the 48 and 148 loaders, probably many others. Even though those old tines bolted on individually, something could easily be adapted to clamp onto the bucket edge. Sort of like those skid-steer tooth-bar attachments. If you're trying to pick up rocks with 'em, better make them pretty beefy unless the tractor is tiny. Gouge into the ground with a few foot-long pieces of 1/2" rod and you'll bend them in no time if you have any power behind them at all.
Reply:Here's a link to the northern industrial steel debris forks for attaching to the bucket of a skidsteer or tractor. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...6891_200586891Don't forget that it's not always your best value to "roll your own", even if you really want to do the project. Could that time be better spent doing a project that is impossible to find already made the way you want? I just like to point that out because 1) people tend to get so focused on doing it themselves that they miss the bigger picture and 2) details add up in cost pretty quickly. If you are going to put in the time/effort, do so for the item that NEEDS your time/effort and not the one that only "wants" your time/effort. |
