New guy's not-so-new projects

New to the forum so I thought I'd share a couple quick pictures of some shop projects...A bench built for my mom, based on a picture she took of one that she likedCutting station and metal rack to conserve shop space... Not quite finished but just haven't had the time. I want to make a rear fence and an adjustable stop for repetitive cuts. I'm sure there are more pictures somewhere, but that's all I can find at the moment.

Reply:Nice set up, like the conduit drops, keeps the tangle of cords under control I assume?You build the station on an existing rack, or make that too? Looks excellent.

Reply:Thanks for the kind words...yes, we'll paint the bench, but she needs to pick a color first.Mike:  The quonset was on my property already, so I'm just trying to make the most of it.  All in all, it can be made to work pretty nicely.  The only downside is that there isn't really a good way to insulate them (which is an issue with Canadian winters).  If I were starting from scratch in this part of the world, I'd probably go with a different design, but I can see them being very economical in a warmer climate...just make sure you can get lots of airflow in the summer and it should be nice to work in.
Reply:Spray foam insulation has been a common insulation method near me, not real cheap, but it is fast and easy the biggest problem is that then you have to put tin or fireproofing on the areas where you weld.

Reply:Guy I used to work with, (no pics sorry) took out a couple of the bolts in his Quonset about every 8' and replaced them with longer bolts to hold a bracket that he then attached 2X6'S to as studding, had the spray foam done, and then skinned that with old roof tin behind his hot saw, and plywood everywhere else. He only went up about 6' but it made it easy to fasten task lights and electrical to the plywood.  It was a process, did the 2X6's everywhere, and the foam. Then as time and money allowed did the tin and or wood. Hope that explains it clearly enough. M.
Reply:Hey, I saw this the other day, and forgot to say anything about itAwful nice thing you made there.I like the rollers a lot.  I made a cut station, and didn't use rollers (although I'm not sure the roller bearings would hold up outside in the weather), and I'm telling you............the rollers sure would make it easier to slide heavier tubing etc. than my solid bars  It's not a killer, but annoying sometimes when you have to just move the stock a smidge to line up the cut mark with the blade IF THE STUPID STOCK IS 20" LONGHave you banged your shins on the lower material racks yet??????"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I've been off the grid lately, as things have been busy.  Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, I'll definitely be looking into the insulation options more.  I'm attaching a couple of pictures of the rack that I built on my TA 252i.  If anyone can gain any ideas for you own use, feel free.  And as always, feel free to criticize or make suggestions.  Crappy cell phone pics:
