We have an old Dayton model# 3z093 Band Saw in our School and it is missing it's drive gear. I have tried a few google searches and I am having trouble even finding record that this band saw exists. If anyone has any leads, they would be much appreciated. The world is amazing when you are slightly strange.

Reply:Sweet mother of dogdung.Dayton is a WW Grainger product, and the 3Z number confirms it came from Grainger. Hop onto their website, click parts and you should find the machine.  If you don't then call the 800 number and have the woman who answers pull the fiche up for you.Worst case you get the gear information and hop over to the counter at your local Boston Gear distributor. Is the instructor in that shop a crackhead hiding under a desk or just flat stupid?
Reply:(bandsawguy) he is on other sitesnot shure if hes on this forum but he rebuilds bandsaw and is the best
Reply:I'll send him the info. As it stands right now, it's sitting out back next to our scrap buckets. I can't wait for it to actually be IN the bucket, the only thing it's missing is the drive gear and I COULD use a nice bandsaw. As for the instructor, he said that he wanted me to try to find the info because he just didn't care. This same saw was last seen sitting outside, barely under a tarp with a rats nest of an electrical hook up. My school wouldn't know a good tool if it came up and bit them in the arse. The world is amazing when you are slightly strange.
Reply:Sounds like a teacher we had over this way back in the 90s, fat bustard sat in the office area of the shop and turned kids loose to learn how to run power tools while he read the damn newspaper all day.  He even turned a apecial ed kid loose running a planer.  Firemen totally disassembled the dust collector looking for parts of that kid's hand. You offer him 5 bucks he'll probably hold the door while you load that bandsaw in your car.
Reply:He gave away a Gould Century run Belt Sander that was soaking in a rust bath of a wheel barrel outside to my one friend. Few hours of clean up and the damned thing is working almost 100 percent. I finish up on Friday, so I doubt I'll have a chance to get that Dayton, but I'll try my damndest. The world is amazing when you are slightly strange.
