Just picked up a used drill press from CL looked in ok condition offered $275 put it on the truck got home and realized that the table has not t slots or holes or any way to mount a vise. The table and column collar are cast as one so no unbolt and bolt different table on. so do i have some one mill some slots in it (prob not think enought for T, just through slots)? just drill some holes in it? not worth the trouble, send it down the road and look for another one?ThanksMiller Thunderbolt 225Millermatic 135harris oxy/propane torch
Reply:I'd probably just put a sacrificial top over the stock one. You'll have to drill through the stock table or figure out a slick way of clamping it on there really tight. Then in the Sacrificial table I'd either put a whole bunch of tapped holes in it that I could use for clamping or rig up a metal version of this:http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...0press%20tableActually depending on what your doing with it, a wooden top with that aluminum track might last you quite a while.Miller 250x & Lincoln V205-TSmith Oxy-Prop torch

Reply:Set a nice piece of plywood on it and keep any over hanging stock on the left side. Don't over tighten the belt. Osha might not agree but it works.Tough as nails and damn near as smart |
