Opinions on this TIG please?

I've been keeping an eye out for my first tig welder. This was just listed about 2 hrs from me, and seems like a good deal. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/tls/4188545709.html  I plan on using it for motorcycle fabrication. I have a millermatic 212 mig for heavier material, and I believe that this Lincoln tig will also stick weld.  Any opinions on this welder overall as well as the asking price?Thanks in advance for any input.
Reply:That is a solid machine, not a lot of bells and whistles, just a basic machine. I think Lincoln brought it back due to demand. The performance on AC is on the lower end due to max amps but hey.$1300 is a little high I'd offer $ 1000
Reply:I agree with dunemetal, try to get it for $1000 if you can.  They are a very solid machine.  Buddy of mine has that same model and loves his.  No frills and he would like to have more amps but for the kind of stuff he typically uses it for it works great.   Before I got my tig he did a few aluminum projects and a couple frame repairs on my bike.

Reply:I have the same machine and it has been excellent I did add a water cooler and appropriate torch.  The air cooled torch just got too hot for my usage. I also opened it up and installed a longer ground cable which complimented my longer water cooled torch.  Good simple machine.  I do find that on aluminum I could use a bigger machine as I have had it overload a number of times.  That is my fault  for pushing it hard not the machine's fault.
Reply:I have the same problem with my PT185 on aluminum.  It does 99% of what I want it to do I just have to remember to give it a cool down periodically.  With the way the damn torch heats up though its not that hard to remember lol!

Reply:I was supposed to go pick up the welder this morning, but unfortunately the owner called me last night and canceled. Someone local to him came right over and picked it up for full asking price...  BUT I came home and did my usual CL check and found this much closer to home:http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/tls/4189834729.html  I offered him $1300 and he said for $1500 we had a deal. I think $1500 for a like new diversion with extras seemed like a great deal. I'm supposed to go over there in a couple hours. Any advise before I go check it out?
Reply:I went and picked up the Diversion 180. I got the welder, cart, pedal, full argon tank and a bunch of rods/cups etc for $1500 and an hour ride. The welder is like new, I'm happy. Now it's time to practice!

Reply:Congrats.  Doesn't seem like a bad deal with all the accessories and tank. Reply:Wow, that looks brand new. Take it easy and slow, and that is the perfect beginner's tig. Did you get the instructional video with it?Only thing I can stress is make sure your ground clamp is clean and tight. Reply:Thanks everyone. I finally got an hour or so to play with the tig. I ran a few beads on a scrap piece of exhaust tube. I have a lot to learn, but in already hooked on the process!
